ISLAMABAD:  Several Rockets were fired simultaneously near Afghanistan’s Kandahar airport on Tuesday while a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane was  ready for takeoff to Quetta.
(PIA) flight PK-199, with 42 passengers on board, was about to take-off for Quetta when eight to 10 rockets were fired from different sides close to the runway.

However, PIA officials and airport staff has  assured that the passengers and flight crew were safe and that there was no damage to the aircraft.

The plane was stopped for departure  temporarily as the runway was shutdown to check the damages. However, officials confirmed that the runway was also  cleared for operation and that the PIA flight would depart shortly.

It is not confirmed until now that who carried out these attacks and why but most probably it was Tehrek-e-Taliban who carried out this attack. Similar kind of attack was carried out by these militants near Peshawar Airport-Pakistan but due to preliminary intelligence report armed forces managed to control the intensity of the attack.

It is not confirmed that exactly who were behind the attack on PIA Quetta bound flight on Kandahar Airport Afghanistan as no one has claimed responsibility for this attack.

This is a developing story and will be updated as reports come in.
